Saratoga Soapstone is very easy to maintain and by following some easy care and maintenance tips you will keep your new investment looking new for years to come.
Clean up spills with an absorbent cloth followed by a neutral cleaner. We recommend our daily cleaner, Firstline Clean & Restore for routine maintenance.
Use trivets and cutting boards to protect your countertops from excessive heat and wear by placing hot pots on a trivet and not directly on the soapstone. Protect your fine cutlery by using a cutting board instead of cutting directly on the soapstone.
Use sandpaper to easily sand out scratches that occur on your new countertop. Lightly sand any scratches with 180 grit sandpaper followed by 220 grit sandpaper which is included in the Sartoga Care & Use kit.
Use coasters and placemats to protect your Saratoga Soapstone countertop from food and drink spills and to help maintain the brand new appearance indefinitely.
Use a light coat of sealer to prevent the natural darkening (patina) that occurs over time. Soapstone does not require sealing but a light coat of our Firstline Sealer will help maintain the countertop’s appearance. Saratoga Soapstone Wax can be used to darken and enhance the stone’s natural color.
